Visitors / Attendees List Scam

We have recently become aware of a common scam affecting the events industry. Although this scam has been around for a number of years, it has only just started to impact us at Southern Field Days.

This scam targets email addresses associated with exhibitors of specific events (in our case, agricultural events) and falsely offers to sell a list of visitors and attendees.

It’s important to note that:

  • This is a scam / hoax
  • No one has been scammed or hacked
  • Under no circumstances do we sell any data
  • This is simply the latest wave of scam emails circulating

We apologise for any inconvenience these spam emails may cause, we receive them as well and they are a bit of a headache!

After closely investigating the claims in these emails, we can confirm they are not legitimate. We also found that many other events have been targeted by the same or similar scams. For those interested in learning more, the Trade Show News Network published an informative article on this topic in 2019.
